Pictures from a Previous Visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park

In looking at these pictures of the sculptures, ideas have been more developed as to use typography as a structure, to give the end result a base, to make the sculpture surreal and to maybe look at themes within the meaning of the sculpture.

Seeking Inspiraton

From looking through a few books ('Type Idea Index'-Jim Krause, 'Direct Metal Sculpture' - Dona Z. Meilach, and 'Sculpting In Wire' - Cathy Miles) I gathered plenty of ideas to use metal and create a 3 dimensional sculpture by using a metal frame of perhaps an animal or an inspiration structure in order to be filled with different other kind of materials to represent the colour and the light. Starting today I crated a bird like frame which finished off half 3D and 2D. A picture was taken of it in front of a natural coloured background to represent what the colours may be on the bird itself.

New Project

A new essential live project has been assigned in which a sculptural piece of art is to be constructed and presented in Tapton Grove Nursing Home's soon to be renovated courtyard. First off thoughts were written down on paper as a spidergram form to show thought processes of certain subjects in which the project entailed.

Life Drawing

16/05/11

23/05/11
In life drawing today, we started off with using charcoal sketching a series of 5 minute drawings of the model in different poses. The main objective was to warm us up for the rest of the day drawing using different media and concentration on different parts of the body. As shown in the picture, my development was clear from the first sketch to the fifth sketch. Also on the fifth drawing, I did a full body drawing and then concentrated on the torso as shown on the corner of the A2 cartridge paper.

Different Medias we used:
Charcoal
White pastel
Burnt Sienna pastel
Black Pastel
Black coloured paper
Light brown coloured paper
